- 8:1 Then Jehovah said to Joshua, Do not be afraid or dismayed. Take all the people of war with you, and rise and go up to Ai. See, I have given the king of Ai and his people and his city and his land into your hand.

耶和华对约书亚说，不要惧怕，也不要惊惶。你率领一切兵丁，起来上艾城去；看哪，我已经把艾城的王和他的民、他的城、并他的地，都交在你手里。
- 8:2 And you shall do to Ai and to its king as you did to Jericho and to its king; except its spoil and its cattle you shall take for your plunder. Set an ambush for the city behind it.

你怎样待耶利哥和耶利哥的王，也当照样待艾城和艾城的王；只是城内所夺的财物和牲畜，你们可以取为自己的掠物。你要在城后设下攻城的伏兵。
- 8:3 So Joshua rose up with all the people of war to go up to Ai. And Joshua chose thirty thousand men, mighty men of valor, and sent them out by night.

于是，约书亚和一切兵丁都起来，要上艾城去。约书亚选了三万人，都是大能的勇士，夜间打发他们前往，
- 8:4 And he commanded them, saying, See, you shall lie in ambush for the city behind the city. Do not go very far from the city, and all of you be ready.

吩咐他们说，你们要注意，要在城后埋伏，等候攻城；不可离城太远，都要各自准备。
- 8:5 And I and all the people who are with me will draw near to the city. Then when they come forth to meet us, as it was the first time, we will flee before them.
-
我与我所带领的众民要向城进迫。城里的人像初次出来攻击我们的时候，我们就在他们面前逃跑。
- 8:6 And they will come out after us until we have drawn them out from the city, for they will say, They are fleeing before us as they did the first time. Thus we will flee before them.

他们必出来追赶我们，直到我们引诱他们离开城，因为他们必说，这些人像初次一样在我们面前逃跑；所以我们要在他们面前逃跑。
- 8:7 Then you shall rise up from the ambush and take possession of the city, for Jehovah your God will give it into your hand.

你们就从埋伏的地方起来，夺取那城，因为耶和华你们的神必把城交在你们手里。
- 8:8 And when you capture the city, you shall set the city on fire. You shall do according to the word of Jehovah. See, I have commanded you.
-
你们夺了城以后，就放火烧城。你们要照耶和华的话而行。看哪，我已经吩咐你们了。
- 8:9 Then Joshua sent them forth; and they went to the place of ambush, and they stayed between Bethel and Ai, to the west of Ai. And Joshua spent that night among the people.
-
约书亚打发他们前往，他们就到埋伏的地方去，留在伯特利和艾城之间，就是艾城的西边。当夜约书亚在百姓中间住宿。
- 8:10 And Joshua rose early in the morning and mustered the people; and he and the elders of Israel went up before the people to Ai.
-
约书亚清早起来，点齐百姓，他和以色列的长老就在百姓前面上艾城去。
- 8:11 And all the people of war who were with him went up and drew near and came before the city. And they camped to the north of Ai, so that the valley was between them and Ai.
-
他所带领的一切兵丁都上去，向前进迫，来到城前。他们在艾城北边安营，在他们和艾城之间有一山谷。
- 8:12 Now he had taken about five thousand men and set them in ambush between Bethel and Ai, to the west of the city.
-
他挑了约五千人，使他们埋伏在伯特利和艾城之间，就是艾城的西边。
- 8:13 So they set the people, the whole camp, which was north of the city, and the rearguard to the west of the city. And Joshua went into the valley that night.
-
于是百姓，就是城北的全军和城西的伏兵，都布置好了。这夜约书亚进入山谷之中。
- 8:14 Now when the king of Ai saw this, the men of the city hurried and rose up early and went to meet Israel in battle, he and all his people, at the assigned place, facing the Arabah; for he did not know that there was an ambush set for him behind the city.

艾城的王看见这景况，就和全城的人，清早急忙起来，出到所定的地方，面对着亚拉巴，要与以色列人交战；王却不知道在城后对他设下了伏兵。
- 8:15 And Joshua and all Israel pretended to be beaten before them, and they fled by the way of the wilderness.
-
约书亚和以色列众人在他们面前装败，沿着通往旷野的路逃跑。
- 8:16 Then all the people who were in the city were called together to pursue after them; and they pursued after Joshua and thus were drawn out of the city.
-
城内的众民都被召集，追赶他们；艾城人追赶约书亚的时候，就被引诱离开城。
- 8:17 And not a man was left in Ai or in Bethel who did not go forth after Israel, but they abandoned the city, leaving it open, and pursued after Israel.
-
艾城和伯特利城没有留下一人不出来追赶以色列人的；他们撇了敞开的城，去追赶以色列人。
- 8:18 Then Jehovah said to Joshua, Stretch out the javelin that is in your hand toward Ai, for I will give it into your hand. And Joshua stretched out the javelin that was in his hand toward the city.

耶和华对约书亚说，你向艾城伸出手里的短枪，因为我要将城交在你手里。约书亚就向城伸出手里的短枪。
- 8:19 And the ambush rose up quickly from their place and ran as soon as he had stretched out his hand, and they entered the city and captured it; and they hurried and set the city on fire.

他一伸手，伏兵就从埋伏的地方速速起来，跑进城去，夺了城，急忙放火烧城。
- 8:20 And when the men of Ai turned to see behind them, they looked, and there it was-the smoke of the city going up to heaven; and they had no way to flee this way or that way when the people who had fled into the wilderness turned back upon the pursuers.

艾城的人回头一看，不料，城中烟气冲天；他们往这面或那面都无处可逃，因为那往旷野逃跑的百姓转身攻击追赶的人。
- 8:21 When Joshua and all Israel saw that the ambush had taken the city and that the smoke of the city was rising, they turned and slew the men of Ai.

约书亚和以色列众人见伏兵已经夺了城，城中烟气飞腾，就转身击杀艾城的人。
- 8:22 And the others came out from the city to meet them, so that they were in the midst of Israel, some on this side and some on that side. And they struck them, so that no one was left to survive or escape.
-
伏兵也出城迎击艾城人，艾城人就困在以色列人中间，前后都是以色列人。于是以色列人击杀他们，没有留下一个，也没有让一个逃脱。
- 8:23 But they took the king of Ai alive and brought him to Joshua.
-
他们生擒了艾城的王，将他解到约书亚那里。
- 8:24 And when Israel had finished slaying all the inhabitants of Ai in the field, in the wilderness where they had pursued them, and all of them had fallen by the edge of the sword until they were consumed, all Israel returned to Ai and struck it with the edge of the sword.
-
以色列人在田间，在旷野杀尽所追赶艾城的一切居民，艾城人都倒在刀下，直到灭尽；以色列众人就回到艾城，用刀击杀了城中的人。
- 8:25 And all those who fell that day, both of men and of women, were twelve thousand, all the people of Ai.
-
当日倒毙的人，连男带女共有一万二千，就是艾城所有的人。
- 8:26 And Joshua did not withdraw his hand with which he stretched out the javelin until he had utterly destroyed all the inhabitants of Ai.
-
约书亚没有收回手里所伸出来的短枪，直到把艾城的一切居民尽行杀灭。
- 8:27 Only the cattle and the spoil of that city Israel took for themselves as plunder, according to the word of Jehovah, which He commanded Joshua.
-
惟独城中的牲畜和财物，以色列人都取为自己的掠物，是照耶和华所吩咐约书亚的话。
- 8:28 So Joshua burned Ai and made it a heap forever; it is a desolation to this day.
-
约书亚将艾城焚烧，使城永为废堆，荒凉直到今日。
- 8:29 And he hanged the king of Ai on a tree until evening time. And when the sun set, Joshua commanded, and they took his corpse down from the tree and threw it at the entrance of the city gate, and they erected over him a great heap of stones, which is there to this day.

他将艾城的王挂在树上，直到晚上。日落的时候，约书亚下令，人就把尸首从树上取下来，丢在城门口，在尸首上堆成一大堆石头，直存到今日。
- 8:30 Then Joshua built an altar to Jehovah the God of Israel on Mount Ebal,
-
那时，约书亚在以巴路山上为耶和华以色列的神筑一座坛，
- 8:31 As Moses the servant of Jehovah had commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses, an altar of unhewn stones upon which no one had lifted up an iron tool. And they offered upon it burnt offerings to Jehovah, and they sacrificed peace offerings.

是照着耶和华仆人摩西所吩咐以色列人的话，正如摩西律法书上所写的，用没有动过铁器的整块石头筑的。众人在这坛上向耶和华献燔祭，又献平安祭。
- 8:32 And there he wrote upon the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he wrote in the presence of the children of Israel.

约书亚在那里，当着以色列人面前，将摩西所写的律法抄写在石头上。
- 8:33 And all Israel and their elders and their officers and their judges stood on either side of the Ark in front of the Levitical priests who carried the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah, both sojourner and native alike: half of them in front of Mount Gerizim and half of them in front of Mount Ebal, as Moses the servant of Jehovah had first commanded, to bless the people of Israel.

以色列众人，无论是寄居的、是本地人，和长老、官长、并审判官，都站在约柜两旁，在抬耶和华约柜的祭司利未人面前，一半对着基利心山，一半对着以巴路山，为以色列民祝福，正如耶和华仆人摩西先前所吩咐的。
- 8:34 And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessing and the curse, according to all that was written in the book of the law.

随后，约书亚将律法上一切祝福和咒诅的话，照着律法书上所写的一切，都宣读了。
- 8:35 There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded that Joshua did not read before all the congregation of Israel and the women and the little ones and the sojourners who went among them.
-
摩西所吩咐的一切话，约书亚在以色列全会众和妇女、孩子、并在他们中间来往的寄居者面前，没有一句不宣读的。
