- 36:1 In the fourteenth year of King Heze kiah, Sennacherib the king of Assyria went up against all the fortified cities of Judah and took them.
希西家王十四年，亚述王西拿基立上来攻击犹大的一切坚固城，将那些城攻取了。
- 36:2 And the king of Assyria sent Rab- shakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem to King Hezekiah with a great force. And he stood at the conduit of the upper pool, on the road to the Fuller's Field.
亚述王从拉吉差遣军长率领大军往耶路撒冷，到希西家王那里去。他站在上池的引水道旁，在通往漂布地的大路上。
- 36:3 Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe and Joah the son of Asaph, the recorder, came out to him.
于是希勒家的儿子家宰以利亚敬、书记舍伯那、和亚萨的儿子记事官约亚，出来见军长。
- 36:4 And Rab-shakeh said to them, Say now to Hezekiah, Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria, What is this confidence in which you trust?
军长对他们说，你们去告诉希西家，亚述大王如此说，你所倚靠的有什么可仗赖的呢？
- 36:5 I say, It is but a vain word that you say, There is counsel and strength for war. Now in whom do you trust, that you rebel against me?
你说有打仗的计谋和能力，我说，不过是虚言。你到底倚靠谁才背叛我呢？
- 36:6 You now have put your trust in the staff of this broken reed, in Egypt, which, if a man should lean on it, will go into his hand and pierce it, for so is Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, to all who trust in him.
看哪，你倚靠埃及，乃是倚靠压伤的苇杖，人若靠这杖，这杖必刺透他的手；埃及王法老向一切倚靠他的人正是这样。
- 36:7 And if you say to me, We trust in Jehovah our God; is it not He whose high places and altars Hezekiah has taken away and has said to Judah and Jerusalem, You shall worship only before this altar?
你若对我说，我们信靠耶和华我们的神；希西家岂不是曾将这位神的邱坛和祭坛废去，且对犹大和耶路撒冷的人说，你们当在这坛前敬拜么？
- 36:8 Now therefore give pledges to my master, the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, if indeed you are able to set riders on them.
现在你把抵押给我主亚述王，我就给你二千匹马，看你能不能派出足够骑马的人。
- 36:9 How then can you refuse one official of the least of my master's servants and put your trust in Egypt for chariots and horsemen?
若不然，你怎能拒绝我主臣仆中一位最小的官长呢？你竟倚靠埃及供应你战车马兵么？
- 36:10 And have I now come up apart from Jehovah against this land to destroy it? Jehovah said to me, Go up against this land and destroy it.
现在我上来攻击毁灭这地，岂没有耶和华的意思么？耶和华对我说，你上去攻击毁灭这地罢。
- 36:11 And Eliakim and Shebna and Joah said to Rab-shakeh, Please speak to your servants in Aramaic, because we understand it; and do not speak to us in the Jews' language, in the ears of the people upon the wall.
以利亚敬、舍伯那和约亚对军长说，求你用亚兰语和仆人说话，因为我们懂得；不要用犹大语和我们说话，免得达到城墙上百姓的耳中。
- 36:12 But Rab-shakeh said, Has my master sent me only to your master and to you to speak these words, and not to the men who sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung and drink their own urine with you?
军长说，我主差遣我来，岂是单对你的主和你说这些话么？不也是对这些坐在城墙上，要与你们一同吃自己粪、喝自己尿的人说么？
- 36:13 Then Rab-shakeh stood and cried out with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and said, Listen to the words of the great king, the king of Assyria:
于是军长站着，用犹大语大声喊着说，你们当听亚述大王的话。
- 36:14 Thus says the king, Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, because he is not able to deliver you;
王如此说，你们不要被希西家欺哄了，因他不能拯救你们；
- 36:15 Neither let Hezekiah cause you to trust in Jehovah, saying, Jehovah will surely deliver us, and this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
也不要让希西家使你们信靠耶和华，说，耶和华必拯救我们，这城必不交在亚述王的手中。
- 36:16 Do not listen to Hezekiah; for thus says the king of Assyria, Make your peace with me, and come out to me, and let each eat from his own vine and each from his own fig tree, and let each drink the waters of his own cistern;
不要听希西家的话，因亚述王如此说，你们要与我和好，出来向我投降；各人就可以吃自己葡萄树和无花果树的果子，喝自己井里的水；
- 36:17 Until I come and take you away to a land like your land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards.
等我来领你们到一地，与你们本地一样，就是有五谷和新酒之地，有粮食和葡萄园之地。
- 36:18 Be careful lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, Jehovah will deliver us. Have any of the gods of the nations delivered their land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
你们要谨防，恐怕希西家劝导你们说，耶和华必拯救我们。列国的神有那一个曾救自己的地脱离亚述王的手呢？
- 36:19 Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? And have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?
哈马、亚珥拔的神在哪里？西法瓦音的神在哪里？他们曾救撒玛利亚脱离我的手么？
- 36:20 Who among all the gods of these lands have delivered their land out of my hand, that Jehovah should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?
这些地所有的神中，有谁曾救自己的地脱离我的手呢？难道耶和华能救耶路撒冷脱离我的手么？
- 36:21 But they were silent and did not answer him a word, because of the commandment of the king that said, You shall not answer him.
百姓静默不言，并不回答一句，因为王曾吩咐说，不要回答他。
- 36:22 Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe and Joah the son of Asaph, the recorder, came to Hezekiah with their clothes torn and told him the words of Rab-shakeh.
当下，希勒家的儿子家宰以利亚敬、书记舍伯那、并亚萨的儿子记事官约亚，都撕裂衣服，来到希西家那里，将军长的话告诉了他。
