- 39:1 Now Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an official of Pharaoh, the captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had brought him down there.

约瑟被带下埃及去。有一个埃及人，法老的内臣，护卫长波提乏，从那些带他下来的以实玛利人手下把他买去。
- 39:2 And Jehovah was with Joseph, and he became a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his Egyptian master.

约瑟住在他主人埃及人的家中，耶和华与他同在，他就凡事亨通。
- 39:3 And his master saw that Jehovah was with him and that Jehovah caused all that he did to prosper in his hand.

他主人见耶和华与他同在，又见耶和华使他手里所办的尽都顺利，
- 39:4 And Joseph found favor in his sight, and he ministered to him; and he made him overseer of his house and put all that he hadin his charge.

约瑟就在主人眼前蒙恩，伺候他主人；主人派他管理家务，把一切所有的都交在他手里。
- 39:5 And from the time he made him overseer in his house and put him over all that he had, Jehovah blessed the Egyptian's house on account of Joseph; and the blessing of Jehovah was upon all that he had, in the house and in the field.

自从主人派约瑟管理家务和他一切所有的，耶和华就因约瑟的缘故赐福与那埃及人的家；他家里和田间一切所有的，都蒙耶和华赐福。
- 39:6 And he left all that he had in Joseph's charge; and with him there, he was not concerned about anything except the food that he ate. And Joseph was handsome in form and handsome in appearance.

波提乏将一切所有的都交在约瑟的手中，除了自己所吃的饭，别的事一概不管。约瑟原来形貌俊美。
- 39:7 Now after these things his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph and said, Lie with me.

这事以后，约瑟主人的妻子以目送情给约瑟，说，你与我同寝罢。
- 39:8 But he refused and said to his master's wife, Behold, with me here, my master is not concerned about anything in the house, and he has put everything he has in my charge.

约瑟不肯，对他主人的妻子说，看哪，有我在，家里一切事务我主人都不管；他把所有的都交在我手里。
- 39:9 There is no one greater in this house than I, and he has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great evil, and sin against God?

在这家里没有比我大的；并且他没有留下一样不交给我，只留下了你，因为你是他的妻子。我怎能作这大恶，得罪神呢？
- 39:10 And although she spoke to Joseph day after day, he would not listen to her to lie beside her or be with her.
-
后来她天天对约瑟说，约瑟却不听从，不与她同寝，也不和她在一处。
- 39:11 And one such day he went into the house to do his work, and none of the men of the house were there in the house.
-
有一天，约瑟进屋里去办事，家中的人没有一个在屋里，
- 39:12 And she grabbed him by his garment, saying, Lie with me! But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and went outside.

妇人就拉住他的衣裳，说，你与我同寝罢。约瑟把衣裳撇在妇人手里，跑到外面去了。
- 39:13 And when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and had fled outside,
-
妇人看见约瑟把衣裳撇在她手里跑出去了，
- 39:14 She called to the men of her house and spoke to them, saying, See, he has brought in a Hebrew man to us to mock us. He came in to me to lie with me, and I called out with a loud voice;

就叫了家里的人来，对他们说，你们看，他带了一个希伯来人到我们这里，要戏弄我们。他到我这里来，要与我同寝，我就大声喊叫。
- 39:15 And when he heard that I lifted up my voice and called out, he left his garment beside me, and fled and went outside.

他听见我放声喊起来，就把衣裳撇在我身边，跑到外面去了。
- 39:16 And she placed his garment beside her until his master came home.

妇人把约瑟的衣裳放在自己身边，等着他主人回家，
- 39:17 And she spoke to him with these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, whom you have brought to us, came in to me to mock me.
-
就对他如此说：你所带到我们这里的那希伯来仆人，进来要戏弄我，
- 39:18 And when I lifted up my voice and called out, he left his garment beside me and fled outside.
-
我放声喊起来，他就把衣裳撇在我身边，跑出去了。
- 39:19 And when his master heard the words of his wife that she had spoken to him, saying, This is the way your servant treated me; his anger burned.

约瑟的主人听见他妻子对他所说的话，说，你的仆人如此待我，他就发怒，
- 39:20 And Joseph's master took him and put him into the prison, the place where the king's prisoners were confined. But while he was there in the prison,
-
把约瑟拿住，下在监里，就是王的囚犯被囚的地方。但是当约瑟在监里的时候，
- 39:21 Jehovah was with Joseph; and He extended kindness to him and gave him favor in the sight of the chief jailer.
-
耶和华与约瑟同在，向他施恩慈，使他在狱长眼前蒙恩。
- 39:22 And the chief jailer put in Joseph's charge all the prisoners who were in the prison; and whatever was done there, he was the one to do it.
-
狱长把监里所有的囚犯都交在约瑟手下；他们在那里无论作什么事，都是经他的手作的。
- 39:23 The chief jailer did not supervise anything that was in his charge, because Jehovah was with him; and whatever he did, Jehovah caused it to prosper.
-
凡在约瑟手下的事，狱长一概不察，因为耶和华与约瑟同在；耶和华使他所作的尽都顺利。
